Tutors can provide a spectrum of services to meet students' individual needs and interests.  I provide services for students K-12, in all subjects, specializing in reading, writing and comprehension, using a variety of media and instructional methods, each geared specifically to the learning styles best suiting the students.

Living in Europe presents a marvelous opportunity to take the classroom out of the school and into the local environment, and I use this method to help learners feel connected to the subjects they are studying.

I also believe all learners should be proficient in all aspects of technology.  Therefore, my services include the designing of web quests, PowerPoint presentation projects, Excel database projects, photography with a digital camera, and a variety of graphics software, so that the students are engaged in assignments that correlate with "real-world" skills and abilities.  By clicking on the CD disk icon to the right, you can read an official report on the impact of computers and technology in learning, prepared by the U.S. Department of Education.

Developing excellent study habits and critical thinking skills is another goal of my tutoring services.  By working with parents and students, we can establish where and how to best meet your child's study needs.  We will also practice test-taking strategies and work together to develop meta-cognitive learning abilities .

My services are offered in your home, or at my office, or at a third party location such as the library.  For members of the Vilseck community, there is no additional charge for mileage.  Due to the high price of gas, however, I must charge a nominal fee for mileage to Grafenwoehr and beyond.  There is no charge for mileage for online tutoring, but there are other conditions for this service.

Currently, the base rate for tutoring services begins at $20 per hour, with a two hour per week minimum.  Initial one hour consultations are free of charge.  For active duty military, reserve and retired military families, the minimum rate is discounted to $15 per hour, again with a two hour minimum per week.

Initial consultations include a parent application form which seeks information about your child and your family learning goals.  We also review the school curriculum, and individual class syllabi and assignment schedules.  And naturally, we (parents, students and me) collaboratively plan an array of interesting, unique activities designed just for the individual learner.

If you decide to engage my services as a tutor, a contract must be signed and payment in advance for the first four sessions  is mandatory, and thereafter, payments should be made by on a bi-weekly basis, every second Thursday.  I accept only cash and personal checks.  If a check does not clear, it may be grounds for a termination of the contract or legal action with military or civilian authorities.

My services are offered as a private contractor, and I am solely responsible for paying taxes.

The tutoring contract requires both parents and students to sign the contract/agreement.  All curricular materials, including pens, paper, art materials, text books, workbooks, and computer access (high speed Internet preferred) must be provided by the parent/student for each tutoring session.

I am bound to keep records of the learner's progress strictly confidential, unless an issue of safety and health of the student arises, as required by law.

Consultations with school administrators, teachers and other support personnel are available at the regularly establish billing rate, with a minimum of one hour billing time.

Online tutoring services begin with an established hourly base rate, with additional fees incurred for very complex lessons.  All Internet web sites will be personally vetted by me, prior to the learner accessing the site.

Additional services can be contracted in conjunction with tutoring or as a stand-alone service.  For instance, research project assistance or essay editing can be arranged on a flat fee basis, with payment made in advance.

Remember, I also offer Adventure Learning expeditions, which can be arranged for a small group of learners or for a family.

By clicking on the soaring graduate icon to the right, you can see a PDF sample of a blank parent/student/tutor contract.  Below you will find the Tutor's Code of Ethics.  Please feel free to call me to discuss your child's individual needs.  I can be reached at (09662) 421-895, Monday through Friday 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.  After 4 pm I may be engaged in after-school tutoring, but I invite you to call until 8:00, and I will answer as I am available.  Thank you.
